Zamacola: The World’s Most Sustainable Alpaca Plant Recognized at Creatividad Empresarial 2025

We are proud to announce that Inca Tops has been awarded 🏆 in the Products and Intermediate Services category of the Creatividad Empresarial 2025 Award, organized by the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC).

This recognition was granted to our project Zamacola: the world’s most sustainable alpaca plant, an example of how innovation and efficiency can transform an entire industry.

The award celebrates the work we have been doing to position Peruvian alpaca fiber as a global benchmark, integrating sustainable processes, cutting-edge technology, and social commitment at every stage of the production chain.

Why does Zamacola deserve this recognition?

The Zamacola plant, built more than 10 years ago, combines the artisanal tradition of manual fiber classification with the most advanced textile and environmental technology. Its impact is reflected in multiple dimensions:

• Clean energy: more than 1,200 solar panels generate 80% of the energy used to heat water, reducing our carbon footprint by 11.8%.
• Water management: we operate the most sophisticated treatment plant in the alpaca industry, capable of processing 369 m³ of wastewater daily and reusing 100% of the water.
• Unique qualities: we are the only company in the world producing Alpaca 16 and Imperial Alpaca, luxury fibers that compete with cashmere and guanaco.
• Natural colors: Zamacola processes more than 500 tons of alpaca in natural shades, avoiding dyeing processes and saving thousands of liters of water. We are also the only plant that rescues pure black alpaca fiber.
• Circular economy: 100% of textile by-products are reused or sold, avoiding CO2 emissions and generating significant savings in water and energy.
• Social commitment: we work with 16 alpaca communities, more than 1,380 producers, ensuring traceability and certification under the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS).
